Editor’s Note: I chose George Michael’s “Freedom! 90″ for MY March 2009 TOP 10: Music Video Cameos. In this case, supermodels. See it at the old site/server here.
Name: A House A Home
Genre: Pop
Debut Release: A House A Home EP (Self-Released)
Release Date: Spring 2009
This, That, or the Other
1. Straight-Up Funk or Down and Dirty Punk? Definitely Straight-Up Funk
2. Lyrics or Beats? That’s a tough one. I am a lyric fiend but you can’t deny a good beat. If I’m out or driving around the beat’s always what gets me going.
3. Fan-Favorite or Critics’ Darling? Fan-Favorite. The critics aren’t the ones singing along at shows and paying to see you play.
4. Closed Fist or Open Hand? Closed Fist. Makes for a more effective punch and/or rock hand.
5. Wall Flower, Life of the Party, or Dancing Your @$$ off? Whether I’m a Wall Flower or Dancing My @$$ off directly relates to the amount of beer consumed and what the occasion is. I’ve been all 3 at some point, I’m sure. But, in my natural state I suppose I’m a bit of a Wall Flower.
Fill in the Blank
6. Music keeps me sane.
7. If I wasn’t a musical artist I’d be some kind of scientist, I think. I’ve always been an anatomy/physiology nerd, so maybe a doctor.
8. My favorite all-time music video is a toss up between George Michael’s “Freedom! 90” and No Doubt’s “Spiderwebs.” I think those are my earliest memories of being fascinated by music videos.
9. If I could have a super power it would probably be telekinesis. I’m also super impatient when it comes to travel, though, so I’d love to teleport.
10. Peace, Love, and Happiness should change to Ownership, Acceptance, and Fiscal Responsibility. But, Grant thinks that makes me sound like a Republican, so maybe Sex, Drugs, and Rock’n’Roll?
Short Answer
11. Musicianship means: Being able to listen first and foremost. I don’t think anyone can call themselves a musician if they have to listen to something and immediately pass judgment. All music has something to offer if you listen right.
12. If I could convey one perfect thought or sentiment through one perfect song it would be: “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone. Emotionally that song hits me like a freight train every time I listen to it. I’m not even sure why it hits me so hard, but it always makes sense of whatever mix of emotion I’m feeling.
13. If I could change one thing about myself it would be: I wish I didn’t think so much. I wish I could do whatever popped into my head. That’s honest to God why I have so much respect for Lady Gaga. She wakes up and says I’m going to wear an outfit made entirely out of mini Kermit the Frogs today…and she does…on national television. I think more people need to be like that, less censored.
14. Wild Card! Does anyone else wonder what the relevance of Justin Bieber is? The kid looks like he’s 12. Also, why is it that every Disney star gets a record deal? 15.
15. The most important thing to me RIGHT NOW is: Making music my life. Working my @$$ off to make it pay the bills. I’m not ready to surrender to a 9 to 5 just yet.
